SItuational Irony



Definition of Situational Irony: Situational irony is when the outcome of a situation is very different than expected, often in a comedic way.

Another Example: Someone goes to the trouble to steal (what he thinks is) a very expensive necklace from a jewlery store. However, later on he realizes it's actual worth is only around $10, and that the "diamonds" are fake.

Onomatopoeia

Onomatopoeia: The formation of a word by imitation of a sound made by, or associated with its referent.

EX: Buzz, hiss, squish

Didactic




Definiton: (adj.) with intention to teach, particularly in having moral instruction as an ulterior motive.

Another Example: F. Scott Fitzgerald's didactic novel explores extravagant life in the 1920's while also teaching readers about moral judgement.
